Dick Bruna, the Dutch author known for his children’s book series “Miffy”, is also a graphic designer. His heartwarming art can be seen in many of his masterpieces, like the paperback covers and posters designed for the “Black Bear” series. The common theme in his art is “Simple”. His unique sense of humor and emotions are always woven into the “simplicity” of his art, while trimming off any unnecessary extras.

In this exhibition, we are displaying over 200 paperbacks, about 40 original designs and sketches, about 30 of original designs for picture books such as Miffy and Boris, as well as around 500 copies of other works such as posters. We have also invited four spirited designers of Japan: KIGI, groovisions, Norio Nakamura and mintdesigns. Ranging from production and graphic design to fashion industry, these four will be introducing their new pieces inspired by Bruna’s trademark of “simplicity”, upon which the theme of this exhibition, “The Tomorrow of Simplicity” is based.
